Nestled in a green gem in the heart of the Japanese Alps, the Hakushu distillery founded in 1973 has the distinction of producing single malts with a rather green and fresh character.Inspired by Japan’s natural forests, Suntory created 200 acres of nature sanctuary in which to produce Hakushu Single Malt. Hakushu 12 year old, who won several awards at international competitions, is a single malt with rich and complex flowery flavors coated with a very slight hint of smoke.

Kaikomagatake, Suntory Single Malt Whisky Hakushu® is crisp and gently smoky single malt whisky with herbal notes that is the revelation of Japanese single malts. Cumin, black pepper and liquorice add depth to the flavour and lingering floral notes are the perfect ending to a smooth and highly unusual gin. The initial Hakushu distillery came into existence in 1973, followed by the addition of a second facility, Hakushu Higashi (East), in 1981.
